Soccer is played during the winter season, during Term 2 and Term 3.  Magill School participates in the Eastern Zone Primary Schools Soccer Association.

What is Soccer?

Soccer is a ball game played by two teams of 11 players. The ball is moved around the pitch using the feet, which is why the game is called football in most of the world. The object is to score goals in the opposing team’s net. Each player in the team has a position on the pitch and the goal keeper attempts to stop the ball going into the net he is defending. The other players are split into defence, midfield and attack and work as a unit to score a goal.

Registration – week 6 term 1 available

Fees - $100

Uniform – Team shirts are provided by the school. It is the players responsibility to provide their own green shorts, long yellow socks and shin pads (socks and shin pads compulsory). The long yellow socks and shin pads are available from sports stores, Kmart etc.

Junior Soccer: 7 Year Division, 8 Year Division, 9 Year Division, 10 Year Divison & 11 Year Division

Boys and girls play in age divisions according to the age they are turning in that year, and games are played for fun.  Within the age divisions, groupings are re-seeded during the season for equality in games and results. We try to organise teams by classes or previous teams so that the children play with others they know.  This may mean younger ones play in a year group older. If you have a team request, you can write this on the registration form for consideration.

The important part in these younger age groups is for the kids to have fun and enjoy the game. It can take time for the kids to get used to holding their position, passing etc. and we try to highlight the positives from any result.
