Magill School day

A normal school day at Magill School starts with yard supervision from 8.25am.  Children should not be on the school grounds before this time unless they are booked in to OSHC.  Teachers are in classrooms from 8.40am with the school day commencing at 8.45am.

If students are late but arrive before 9:15am, they go straight to their class. If students arrive after 9:15am, they must report to the front office and sign in before going to class. Younger students may require a parent/caregiver to accompany them.  If this step is missed, you may receive a notification that your child is absent from school.

Absenteeism SMS 0428 616 225

When students will not be attending school due to illness, family reasons, external learning/sports, parents/caregivers are requested to notify the school via our Absenteeism SMS 0428 616 225 by 9am.  Please ensure you include your child’s name, classroom and brief explanation of why they are absent, e.g. illness, family reasons. This information is critical in ensuring all students are accounted for as student safety and well-being is a high priority.

Children who are away unwell for 3 days or more will be required to provide a doctors certificate.

If your child will be absent from school for 3 days or more, parents/caregivers must complete an Exemption Form (Form C) which must be approved by our Principal PRIOR to the leave dates.

Form C Exemption

Early dismissal

When a child/children need to be collected from school early, the procedure is:

  • Parent/caregiver to notify class teacher that child/children needs to leave early and advise the time. Ideally this is done prior to the start of the school day.
  • Teacher will send the child/children to the Front Office ready for collection by the parent/caregiver.  If the child/children is leaving for the day, they will be sent with their bag.
  • Office staff will mark them as Early Dismissal on the system.
  • Parent/Caregiver to come to Front Office to collect child/children.
  • If a child/children have checked out of school for an appointment and are returning to school, they will need to check back into school using the same procedure.

Pupil Free / School Closure Days

Throughout the school year there will be several Pupil Free/School Closures determined by Magill School Governing Council.

These closure days will be advised via our school newsletters and will also be included on our Google calendar which can be found on our website.
